Planning for the urban freight evolution – ESR Sponsored Paper
20 October 2021: Planning for the urban freight evolution – ESR Sponsored Paper
macroplan releases Planning for the Urban Freight Evolution, a discussion paper which aims to commence a dialogue with NSW planning authorities and stakeholders about the need to view “freight and logistics” – that is the things we handle, store, distribute and receive - in a different light. The “F-word” [freight] is not well understood and requires the planning system to take interest and understand the different ways to manage and facilitate the movement and location of freight activities in order to help create sustainable and liveable communities. The Paper identifies examples of how other cities around the world are managing the urban freight task and the freight trends influencing our urban environment. A number of recommendations and simple actions are identified to address the growing freight task. ESR Australia was one of the sponsors of this paper.
